This course will be taught in conjunction with WebCT. Registered students will receive assignments, instruction, feedback, and credit (points) through the WebCT interface. Submit all assignments as files by 11:55 PM Saturday. This will be the principal medium for all course communication.

WebCT Submissions

Submit all assignments as files (file names without spaces or special characters). See each assignment for naming convention. Follow the steps in WebCT to upload files to the server and then move the files to the specified assignment drop box. There is a two-part procedure to submit assignments. First, one must “upload” the file to the WebCT server. Second, one must “submit” the assignment to be graded. If one wishes to have confirmation of the successful submission, place the student's external e-mail address in the box provided (do NOT use the instructors e-mail address). Keep this confirmation for future reference.

WebCT Files

After completing word-processed assignments, save all files in Rich Text Format (RTF). To save a file as RTF while in a word processor, click on “File”, select “Save As”, move to the box titled “Save as type” and scroll down to save the file attachment as a “Rich Text Format”. This universal format can be read and saved on almost every machine. This is important because it reduces the possibility of spreading computer viruses, since viruses attach themselves to documents as well as Executable (EXE) files.

WebCT Grading

Only one (1) up-load and submission can be made through the WebCT drop box to be graded. If an assignment is not uploaded and submitted through WebCT, then the student has 24 hours to submit it to the instructor through WebCT email. The student will lose up to 5 points if the assignment is emailed within 24 hours. Any assignment after this time will receive a zero (0) grade.

WebCT Bulletin Board

This course will provide a common platform for students to communicate with each other through the WebCT Bulletin Board. This is the medium to post questions and responses related to course lectures, homework, programs, or exams. Students are encouraged to take an active role in one's learning by asking and responding to questions from their peers.

WebCT Abuse

The use of WebCT is a privilege. Correspond with colleagues as one would in a business letter by typing out all messages using proper grammar and spelling. Misuse of the media such as cursing, insults, profanity, swearing, sarcastic, racist, or negative comments will result in loss of WebCT privileges and can lead to dismissal from class.
